Computed
Tomography
(CT)
CT
combines the use of computer and x-ray to create
an image. Imagine your body as a loaf of bread.
The CT scanner "slices it up" so that
each slice can be pulled out and looked at individually.

Preparation
If you have had previous CTs or X-rays of the
area that we will be evaluating please bring them
with you if possible.
Preparation may vary depending on what area of
your body that your doctor would like to focus.
Please check with your physicians office to be
sure that you follow pre-exam instructions.
Exam
To
enhance the CT image, you may be given a contrast
agent through an intravenous line (IV) or by injection.
An
imaging procedure typically lasts from 15 to 45
minutes, depending on the type of information
requested by your physician.
Your images will be interpreted by one of our
board-certified radiologists and the findings
will be given to your physician. Your physician
will contact you to share the results.
